We are excited to announce that we got selected for Fashion Brand of The Year. Being on the list with other Belgian brands in itself is an honour.

In 2021, Lies Mertens will be four years old. As a young team & brand, we try to focus more on the individuals than the commercial side. Especially in a year like 2021, this felt and showed to be the right approach.

We always strive to be as transparent, durable and ecological as possible within the leather goods industry. Therefore, a circular approach and continuous research regarding green solutions are part of our daily scope.

This year we’ve taken this approach to the next level by working with an energy-neutral manufacturer in Italy to minimize our impact on the planet. Going even further, we are in the middle of developing our first natural vegan line that will be coming out in 2022.

Supporting other creatives and brands has always been part of our core. This year, we were able to work together with designer Axelle Vertommen and display her work in our store in Antwerp. In addition, we collaborated with artist Shirley Villavicencio Pizango for a limited edition collection of painted handbags and collaborated with Loft - Handmade Eyewear.

Becoming Brand of the Year would mean our efforts didn’t go unnoticed.
