The Beach, shells and other discoveries

There is something in the way we look at things before we learn what they are supposed to be. A shell can become a shape, a movement, a small object to collect or turn over in your hand. A ripple in the water, becomes a fold, a form can lead somewhere without needing to have a purpose from the start.
Over the past year, we have found ourselves looking more closely at these kinds of organic forms: how nature builds volume, how surfaces bend and overlap, and how irregularity can create its own logic.
The Beach is a short film about curiosity, play and the value of not losing either as we grow older.
Created with Studio Alfons Meyer, stylist Linda van Waesberge and choreographer Yorrith de Bakker, the film also marks the arrival of the Oyster Small; a new, smaller interpretation of the Oyster bag.
To mark the launch of the Oyster Small, we introduce a limited edition: Pearl. It is made from soft calf leather that has a subtle, pearl-like shine inspired by the inside of an oyster shell.
The large shell
Behind the scenes we crafted our own very large shell in the atelier.The shell is hand-painted to mimic a real oyster shell.
