Designed in Antwerp

All designs are created in Antwerp. Each Lies Mertens bag is developed in-house with a careful attention to detail and commitment to quality. That approach has earned us the official Craft label, which allows us to accept Edenred ecocheques. It’s an important way to support local, sustainable and long-lasting design.
Produced by trusted partners

We produce our bags in two small-scale ateliers. The first, Venetian Style, is a family business in Northern Italy. The second, LSP, is a Belgian manufacturer with an atelier in Tunisia that operates under European regulations. LSP has been making leather goods for three generations.

Because I value transparency, I spend a lot of time with the people I work with, sitting down with them, asking questions and learning how they operate. Understanding every part of my partners’ process – from prototype to production prototype, from cut to finish – matters to me.

In turn, I want to be open about our production. This is why I invited the documentary and film makers of studio Alfons Meyer to come along to Italy and Tunisia, to capture our partners’ craft.
Repair service

Longevity is at the heart of our story. So if your bag starts to show signs of wear, like loose stitching, please visit our store or reach out by email or phone. We can either repair it ourselves, send your bag back to our production team, or have it restored by Anne Govaerts, an Antwerp-based repair workshop. This way, you can enjoy your bag for as long as possible.
